Japanese gyoza dipping sauce recipe

This easy, authentic Japanese gyoza dipping sauce recipe (餃子のタレ) only needs 3 ingredients & 1 minute to make! It's sweet & spicy, and can also be drizzled on chicken noodle soup. Whether it's prawn/ shrimp or pork dumplings, this is the best sauce for them! (Chili Oil Optional.)

Equipment

  • 1 Bowl & spoon For mixing

Ingredients

  • 1 Tablespoon Japanese soy sauce This is the most popular ratio but it's flexible, you can increase/ decrease each ingredient as per your taste.
  • 1 Tablespoon white rice vinegar
  • Japanese Chili Oil (La-Yu) I recommend starting with ½ teaspoon and increasing if necessary. (You don't want the sauce too oily as gyozas are often fried.)

Instructions

  • Mix the ingredients together. Serve with your dumplings.

Notes

Optional Additions: Garnish with scallions and lightly toasted sesame seeds- this is optional but does make the sauce more attractive. You can also add grated ginger or garlic. I don't recommend adding fresh garlic if you plan on storing the sauce (up to 5 days in the fridge.)
