Did you know that there is no authentic Teriyaki sauce (照り焼き) as, in Japanese cuisine, it's not a sauce, but a cooking method?
Teriyaki can be grilled, pan-fried, or broiled, but whichever cooking method you use, the resulting dish needs to have a nice glaze (and enough brown sugar to create it, so the taste is sweet, salty, and savory. A bowl of white or brown rice is a must-have!)
The recipes in this Teriyaki round-up are Teriyaki Sauce recipes, which replicate the authentic Japanese teriyaki flavor. However, each recipe has some tweaks to it, to best complement the taste of the main ingredient (pasta/ meat/ vegetable etc.)
Note: You'll need simple ingredients/ pantry staples which you can get at the regular grocery store, such as brown sugar/ white sugar, light soy sauce, mirin, sake, sesame oil, fresh ginger, fresh garlic, and rice wine vinegar in most of the following recipes. (If you use ground ginger to substitute for fresh, you may need a tiny bit more vinegar to temper the sweetness.)
If you like a bit of spice, sprinkle some red pepper flakes on the dishes.
