This easy salsa cream cheese dip, made from scratch, is the perfect cold dip to make ahead for a party. You only need 5-6 ingredients to make it from scratch (or less if you want to use a store-bought jar of salsa hack option!) Serve with crackers, chips, pretzels or veggie sticks. For those who like spice, vary it up with some jalapeño and use it in pinwheel appetizers or rollups. (No Mayo or Sour Cream.)

🥘 Ingredients

You will need a few simple ingredients:
- cream cheese: Make sure the ingredients are at the same temperature when mixed or the cheese will curdle, as shown in the photo below. Take it out of the fridge 20-30 minutes before mixing so it'll be soft enough to mix easily.
- chopped tomato: both home chopped and canned work.
- minced onion: mince it bigger if you like a more chunky dip. I recommend a red onion for natural sweetness.
- ground black pepper, salt, sugar
- lemon juice: Do not omit the lemon juice! I thought the canned tomato would be sour enough but adding the lemon juice really made the dip taste better.
Optional: chili flakes and shredded basil garnish
