You can use anything from regular milk to plant-based milk when making lattes at home- I recommend a specific milk for each of the recipes below, but if you want to find out about the best milk for matcha latte, click here.
Vanilla Matcha Latte
I was surprised by how well these 2 flavors go together- vanilla adds a warm sweetness to earthy matcha, which reduces the amount of sweetener you need to add.
Definitely a plus! Serve with some matcha cream cheese cake on the side, for extra green tea flavor.

Warm Matcha Latte
Having some homemade matcha simple syrup in the fridge will speed up making this latte by a lot! Goes so well with this Royce Chocolate Inspired Green Tea Chocolate!
Fruit Matcha Drinks
These fruit drinks are fun and fresh, to go with the warming weather.
Pineapple
This is one of the healthiest Starbucks drinks you can make at home- the pineapple is so sweet, you don't need to add sugar!
If you want to make this often, I suggest prepping some spiced pineapple ginger simple syrup first!
Blueberry
If you're having this for tea, why not add some homemade matcha mochi muffins?
Strawberry
There's nothing like strawberries to remind you of spring (or summer actually.)
I use homemade strawberry puree here, but you can also use strawberry jam- you will need more milk as jam is thicker, and remember to add less sugar!
Oat Milk (Vegan)
If you want to save on a bamboo whisk, you can try the method of shaking the matcha powder vigorously in a (tightly closed) Mason Jar. (Matcha doesn't dissolve in water- the whisking produces a suspension instead.)
Shaking is not fool-proof though: look at the glass of chai green tea drink below- you can see a few clumps of the Japanese green powder.
Chai
Homemade Chai Syrup is great for this recipe!
Expert Tips
Tip #1: If you want the best matcha flavor, use ceremonial matcha. It is more expensive, but finer than the usual culinary matcha.
Tip #2: Matcha powder clumps easily, so for best results (for a smooth drink), sieve the powder first.
