Miso Sea Bass white mango cucumber salad on a white plate.

If you're not a roast turkey fan, here are some no-turkey alternative Thanksgiving seafood recipes for you! (For more non-traditional Thanksgiving meals, click here. Having said that, seafood such as mussels, clams, bass and oysters were actually part of the first Thanksgiving menu!)

Don't forget to pair the dishes with these easy seafood sides.

    Starters

    Spicy Tuna Dip

Someone dipping a cracker into a bowl of spicy coconut tuna curried dip.

Instead of the typical cream cheese dip or crab cakes, why not try this easy canned tuna spicy recipe? It's the perfect addition to the Friendsgiving dinner table of a seafood lover, as it's cheap, easy, and delicious!

This delicious seafood starter goes well with crackers, vegetable sticks, or mochi cheese bread. You can also turn it into a curry if you reduce the cooking time and don't simmer off all the sauce.

Curried Spicy Tuna Dip (4- ingredients)
An easy, spicy, creamy canned tuna recipe that only calls for 4 pantry staples and can be made in 15 minutes.

    Pumpkin Seafood Soup

Chinese Pumpkin Soup is great for this time of year as pumpkins are in season. You can also add crabmeat, lobster tails, or fresh shrimp to make the Chinese soup even tastier!

Note: For more Asian pumpkin recipes, such as Chinese pumpkin cake, click here or here for Asian Kabocha Squash dishes.

    Chinese Pumpkin Soup with Carrots
A deliciously savory dish, this Chinese Pumpkin Soup with carrots is also very nutritious and really easy to make in a few simple steps! (Basically, cut + steam!)

    Teriyaki Salmon

Close-up of 2 teriyaki salmon fillets with green onions.

If you don't have a main dish for your Thanksgiving table, Teriyaki Salmon is a great Japanese dish to make.

Sweet and salty, I've never met anyone who doesn't like the taste. Plus, it goes really well with just white rice, brown rice, or even cauliflower rice, and some green onions. (FYI Salmon has lots of healthy fatty acids, and is 1 of the most popular seafood choices in America, so will be a crowd-pleaser.)

Note: Click here for side dishes that go with teriyaki, such as green beans.

    Pan-Fried Teriyaki Salmon (& Baked)
This deliciously savory Pan Fried Teriyaki Salmon recipe is sweet, savory and full of umami. Plus, it only takes under 10 minutes to cook and is perfect for busy weeknight dinners! (I include directions for both the pan fried and baked versions, as well as advice on when to use which method!)
Click here for the Japanese salmon recipe which can be pan-fried or baked!

    Miso Sea Bass

Spooning miso sauce on Broiled Sea Bass.

Another main course ideas is this Nobu sea bass copycat recipe.

It is a great way to have a restaurant-quality dish at home. You can serve it with fish sauce roasted Brussels sprouts or baked sweet potatoes, and a glass of white wine!

Miso Sea Bass (or Other Types of Fish)
A deliciously easy Miso Sea Bass recipe inspired by Nobu, with a sweet and savory flavor, that is on the table in under 15 minutes (excluding marinating. I also show you what to do if you don't have time to marinate the fish.) The typical version uses Chilean Sea Bass (Patagonian Toothfish) but the sauce works with other types of fish so I'm using Barramundi Sea Bass instead to be more sustainable. (Alternatively, Black Cod or Alaskan Sablefish is a good substitute.)
Click here for the Nobu inspired fish recipe.

    Salmon with Slaw

This Salmon with Slaw is ever-so-fragrant: it's made with Asian herbs such as lemongrass, ginger, garlic, lime and soy sauce. (You can use lemon juice if you don't have lime.)

    Miso Butter Salmon

Another easy recipe for your holiday feast is this Miso Butter salmon dish.

CRISPY Miso Butter Salmon Recipe 味噌バターサーモン
This Easy Miso Butter Salmon Recipe (味噌バターサーモン) is full of flavor but quick to make. It's the perfect weeknight dinner that's on the table in under 30 minutes. Great with just a bowl of white rice, and you can even cook some veggies in the leftover sauce in the pan, to make an all-rounded meal.

Miso Butter Salmon Fillet on a blue and white plate.

    Gochujang Salmon

Close-up of a crispy skin salmon topped with Korean gochujang glaze.

Another popular choice is this 15 minutes Korean salmon recipe. You can make it 2 way: pan fried for super crispy skin or broiled for nice charred flesh.

    Gochujang Salmon (Pan-Fried vs Broiled)
This Gochujang Salmon is deliciously savory. And, it takes less than 10 minutes to cook, perfect for weeknight dinners! (I've tested both the pan fried and broiled versions, and offer directions for both, as well as advice on which is "better"! Basically do pan friend for crispy skin and broiled for nice charred bits.)

    Vietnamese Snapper

If you prefer to serve whole fish for this special occasion, try this Vietnamese snapper. The lemongrass and other herbs make it so fragrant, you only need hoisin and soy for the sauce!

    Casseroles

    Salmon Bake

Baked salmon casserole wrapped in seaweed, handrail style.

This DIY no-roll sushi can take center stage at Thanksgiving weekend: just serve some seaweed on the side, so that everyone can wrap their own fish and rice! Fun, easy, and delicious!

    Salmon Sushi Bake Recipe
Salmon Sushi Bake is a simple but delicious Asian fusion casserole that consists of flaky salmon in a creamy sauce on top of warm rice. It lets sushi novices enjoy without having to deal with the stress of rolling the rice. Made with easy to find ingredients, it's a great sharing dish that's on the table in 20 minutes (excluding the time to cook the rice!)

    Shrimp

    Hibachi Shrimp

Recreate your favorite Japanese restaurant meal at home, instead of the traditional Thanksgiving dinner, with this Hibachi Shrimp recipe.

    Curry

Curry is a great dish for the holiday season, because you can make it before the party: it actually tastes even better heating up so you can always make it the day before Thanksgiving day if you need!

    Singapore Fish Curry

Someone scooping up a bite of simmered fish in coconut milk and jasmine rice.

This Singaporean Assam Fish Curry is a really delicious and comforting dish, even when served with just white rice! It's great for a holiday meal such as Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner.

    Singaporean Tamarind Coconut Fish Curry
An 8-ingredient curry with flaky fish in a spiced, creamy curry sauce. The tamarind juice gives the flavorful Singapore Tamarind Coconut Fish Curry a delicious citrusy acidity (and makes sure there is no fishy flavor)- unusual for a curry, but makes for a super satisfying meal with white rice. (Dairy-free) (Stovetop)

Hi I'm Zhen also known as GGG! I couldn't boil water till I was 18! However, I love creating community and nurturing people, so when I lived abroad (in St. Andrews then London) for 11 years, I started hosting regular parties for friends, and that's how I started cooking and helping out in professional kitchens. (Couldn't cook before that!) I even organised a supper club for charity (which strangers came to!) Learning to cook late, I make sure my recipes go into enough detail for those new to Asian cuisine or who love a test kitchen approach to cooking!
