Looking for cozy Asian fall soups and stews that are delicious but easy comfort foods to make? These warming Asian recipes go beyond healthy Japanese Miso Soup: from an Asian chicken rice soup, a spicy rice noodle soup, dumpling soup and hearty stews such as Filipino braised pork, hearty chicken stew and more. The perfect comfort foods for fall and winter. (Includes vegetarian + dairy free + Chinese chicken bone broth (fundamental for cooking soups & stews!))

I love soups so much, I often have 2 different types of soup at the same meal! So obviously, I've tried a TON of different Asian soups. (Chinese people believe that chicken soup is good for your health, and that bone broth keeps you young.)

Chicken Stews
Chicken Sambal

You can make this with store bought sambal oelek but it's also very easy to make your own sambal chili with just 3 ingredients.
With a hint of spice but not too spicy, this chicken dish is great as a pot luck dish!

Filipino Chicken Stew

Chinese Chicken Wings

Tofu Adobo

Pork Stew
Filipino Pork Stew

Coated in a thick savory and tangy sauce, this classic Filipino recipe is one of my favourites for family dinners. A bowl of rice is a MUST with this dish!
(This is another Asian dish that tastes better after re-heating- perfect for pot luck!)

Soy Sauce Pork

If you're not a fan of tangy food, try this Chinese braised pork- it's quite similar to Pork Adobb but doesn't have the vinegar.

Taiwanese Braised Pork

If you're short on time, braise ground pork instead of pork shoulder or pork belly- this Taiwanese braised pork is a classic!

Chicken Soups
Chicken Rice Soup

Lot of Sunday lunch or Thanksgiving leftovers? Try this chicken rice soup recipe!
It can be made with a whole chicken chicken thigh or leftover rotisserie chicken meat!

Ginseng Chicken Soup

This is a very healthy Chinese soup, which will keep you warm on chilly days.
If you enjoy Korean samgyetang chicken soup, you should try this easy ginseng soup that only needs 4 simple ingredients.

Abalone

This luxurious soup is popular addition to the Chinese New Year dinner table, as abalones are thought to symbolise properity! Click here for more abalone recipes for the New Year!

Black Chicken

Black chicken is a delicacy in Chinese cuisine and thought to be better for your health than regular chicken!
Black chickens are very small, so you don't get much soup out of just 1 chicken. It's the perfect chicken soup for 1 or 2- alternatively, use 2-3 chickens if you want to cook up a bigger batch.

Chicken Foot

This soup isn't for everyone- I'll be the first to confess I'm not a fan of chicken feet, despite the purported collagen benefits.
However, my Mom enjoys it, hence the addition of the chicken foot peanut soup recipe to the blog!

Others
Egg Drop & Corn

This is one of the most popular recipes at Chinese takeaways, but really easy to make at home!
If you don't have corn, you can skip it.

Mee Siam Noodle

Another hearty addition to this list of autumn soups and stews, Mee Siam is a popular dish in South East Asia.
It's usually stir-fried and eaten dry in Malaysia but with gravy/ soup in Singapore (so the REAL Singapore noodles!)

Thai-Inspired

Option: for a fresher flavor, add the lime after switching off the fire.
If it's a particularly cold fall day, add coconut milk to make a Tom Kia Gai-inspired soup.

Classic Egg Drop Soup

Vegetables
Cabbage Soup

This is a good, inexpensive soup for those on a budget- cabbage is inexpensive, filling, nutritious, and naturally sweet!
You can use chicken stock or pork stock to make it- I use the former for warmer days and the latter for colder ones.

Pumpkin Soup

Nothing says fall like pumpkins!

ABC Soup

This Cantonese soup is full of Vitamin A, Vitamin B and Vitamin C- hence the name! It's a staple home cooked Chinese dish!

Wonton Dumpling Soup

Packed with anti-inflammatory garlic and ginger, this vegetarian dumpling soup is the perfect recipe for fighting off the flu.

If you plan on making Chinese soup often, you'll need this Chinese chicken stock recipe! It's the building block of Chinese cooking.

Sweet
Sesame Soup

This hearty Chinese dessert is one of my favorite ways to cook with black sesame.
If you believe Chinese grandmas, it'll keep your hair nice, black, and healthy too!

Bird Best Soup

A rather controversial Chinese delicacy, this probably ties with the abalone soup for the place of "most expensive soup" on this list of Asian soups.
It's sought after not for its taste but because it's thought to be good for the complexion and lungs.

Longan Soup

If you're after a lighter dessert, try this sea coconut longan dessert.
