To make sure there's a good mix of popular Asian appetisers at the party, I've included both cold appetizers and hot finger foods.

I recommend serving 3-5 appetisers (in total, not per type of appetizer) per person if you have a main to follow. If it's a cocktail party, at least 12-15 pieces per person would make sure no one leaves hungry!

Don't eat the skin- you're meant to pop the pods out (like peanuts.) The skin is super tough and fibrous and not very tasty I imagine.

Note: add a bit of salt to the pot of water, or sprinkle some garlic powder and chili powder on the cooked beans if you want more flavor. You can also coat with some sesame oil.

Hi I'm Zhen also known as GGG! I couldn't boil water till I was 18! However, I love creating community and nurturing people, so when I lived abroad (in St. Andrews then London) for 11 years, I started hosting regular parties for friends, and that's how I started cooking and helping out in professional kitchens. (Couldn't cook before that!) I even organised a supper club for charity (which strangers came to!) Learning to cook late, I make sure my recipes go into enough detail for those new to Asian cuisine or who love a test kitchen approach to cooking!
