These cute spiral rolls will impress the guests- you can switch out the green pandan layer for brown chocolate, black sesame, etc

Mochi Bread

I am usually not a fan of mochi but for this savory cheese bread, I make an exception! Be careful not to add too much egg and leavening agent, or the cheese ball will puff up then collapse in minutes!

Teriyaki Wings

These wings are cooked on the stovetop, not in the oven, but fingerlicking good!

These spicy fish sauce wings are fingerlicking good! Although baked not fried, the skin is still super crisp!

Edamame

Edamame is 1 of the easiest and healthiest authentic Asian appetizers that you can serve.
Simply boil a large pot of water, pour in the frozen edamame and boil for a minute or 2. (Check the back of your packaging for the exact timing.) Carefully strain through a colander and serve!
Don't eat the skin- you're meant to pop the pods out (like peanuts.) The skin is super tough and fibrous and not very tasty I imagine!
Note: add a bit of salt to the pot of water, or sprinkle some garlic powder and chili powder on the cooked beans if you want more flavor. You can also coat with some sesame oil.
Others
Korean Pancake

You can fill these Korean pancakes with plain scallions, fancier seafood or kimchi. Or even a mix of all 3!
Note: for sweet Korean pancakes, try my all-time-favourite Korean snack, hotteok!
Braised Eggs

Braised foods are perfect for colder weather.
You can serve these simmering away in a slow cooker so people can help themselves to warm eggs!

Chinese Scallion Pancakes

If you're out of green onions, you can use leeks or 1 of these green onion substitutes. For more flavor, add 5-spice powder to the filling (I recommend making your own Chinese 5-spice for the best flavor.)

Dumplings

Remember to serve your dumplings with dumpling sauce- it can be chinese, spicy Japanese sauce, Filipino sawasan, Laos Jeow Som, or Korean dipping sauce!
Samosas

Samosas are delicious but take effort to make the dough. To make things quick and simple for a last-minute party, why not use puff pastry instead?
You can make a whole range of them by switching up the samosa fillings. (Click through for over 30 filling ideas!)

Samosas are super easy on their own but, for more flavor, sere them with dipping sauces for Indian chaat. Don't forget to serve with these samosa sides!

Baked Walnuts

For a lighter option, serve some baked Chinese nuts- these walnuts are sold for a high price at Cantonese restaurants but they're easy to make at home. I've tested them with walnuts, pecans, sugar, honey etc.

Spam Fries

These Spam fries are a popular Singaporean finger food and go really well with Korean Gochujang Aioli Sauce or Singaporean Sambal Mayonnaise!

👩 Expert Tips
Tip #1: If you're also serving a main dish, serve 3-5 appetisers per person. (Note: this is a total of 3-5 for all the appetisers, and not 3-5 per type of appetiser!) If it's just a cocktail party, prepare at at least 12-15 pieces per person. (Of course, this depends on how big you make each canapé!)
Tip #2: Serve a mix of popular Asian appetizers: cold and hot, sweet and savory.
